The Beginning
Founded in London in the spring of 2016, Pickles began with a child’s sewing machine, a collection of sketches and a desire to rediscover the comfort and imagination of childhood.
What started as a creative escape during a difficult period soon became something much more. With every character brought to life, designing and sewing offered a renewed sense of purpose, joy and well-being.
Today, that same feeling sits at the heart of Pickles. Each character is thoughtfully created to inspire imagination, become a treasured companion and bring a little comfort and magic to childhood—just as the creative process did for our founder.
Growing The Pickles Family
At first, selling handmade designs at local fairs, craft markets, and online. As Pickles gained popularity, to meet growing demand and maintain quality, we partnered with our first manufacturer - a key step in scaling our production while staying true to our creative roots.
A Learning Curve
Every toy drawn by hand in a sketchpad and cut from sample fabrics. To this day, all samples are still all hand stitched - it keeps the brand honest.
Shop Local
Independent shops began reaching out to stock the brand. This marked the beginning of our wholesale journey. Stepping into wholesale felt like a natural next chapter-allowing us to share our designs with more people and build meaningful partnerships with retailers who value creativity and quality as much as we do.

Many years on, with over 400 stockists worldwide ensuring your little ones get to own a Pickles toy, what began as a spark of childhood imagination has grown into a passionate team who bring Pickles designs to life.
A New Chapter
In 2026, Pickles joined the Le Toy Van family, bringing together two British brands united by imaginative play, thoughtful design and toys made to be treasured. Backed by over 35 years of toy-making experience, Pickles begins an exciting new chapter—designed in London and loved worldwide.
